Introduction

Funding from California’s Project Homekey program provides local counties the opportunity to purchase and develop hotels for Sonoma County’s most COVID-19 vulnerable individuals and provides additional funding for wrap-around supportive services.

In November 2020 the California Department of Housing and Community Development awarded the County of Sonoma Project Homekey grant funding for the purchase of the Hotel Azura in Santa Rosa and  the Sebastopol Inn in Sebastopol. The Hotel Azura offers 44 recently remodeled rooms located in the center of Santa Rosa and the Sebastopol Inn has 31 rooms. Hotel Azura offers 44 recently remodeled rooms located in the center of Santa Rosa.

Many of the future residents will come from the Non-Congregate Site (NCS) at the Astro Hotel and trailers located at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds in Santa Rosa and Redwood Alliance in Occidental. Successful residents will have graduated through the sheltering System of Care and enrolled in ACCESS Sonoma County.

ACCESS (Accessing Coordinated Care to Empower Self Sufficiency) Sonoma County is an innovative program designed to strengthen the County safety net system. This joint work through multiple departments is also known as the Safety Net Collaborative who have combined forces and integrated data, allowing for a holistic view of individuals in need of service. Support is effectively delivered to clients with complex needs improving their health, well-being, and economic stability.
