Introduction
On June 30, 2020, Governor Gavin Newsom announced Project Homekey as the State’s next phase of response to protect homeless Californians from COVID-19. The County of Sonoma has announced that funding was awarded to the County to purchase the Sebastopol Inn as part of Project Homekey. Per the County, the following will be placed at the Sebastopol Inn:
- COVID-vulnerable individuals include those who are over the age of 65 years and/or with chronic or acute health conditions such as cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), liver disease and individuals who are immunocompromised.
- Homeless sheltered at Non-Congregate Sites (NCS) qualify for placement at the hotel.
At the December 15th City Council Meeting, Sonoma County representatives will be available to take questions about the Sebastopol Inn purchase and will present plans for next steps, move-in dates, and operations. The City encourages the public to attend this meeting.
